Pneumococcus: Medical History

Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of pneumococcal disease.

Family history

  • What is the current health status of your family members?

Social history

  • Is there any evidence of psychosocial stress or strain due to your family situation?

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • What symptoms have you observed in yourself?
    • Headache
    • Earache
    • Abdominal pain
  • Do you have a cough or cold?
  • Do you have a fever?
  • Do you feel tired frequently?

Vegetative anamnesis incl. nutritional anamnesis

  • Do you smoke? If yes, how many cigarettes, cigars or pipes per day?
  • Do you drink alcohol? If yes, what drink(s) and how many glasses of it per day?

Self history incl. medication history.

  • Pre-existing conditions (infections, lung disease, renal insufficiency/kidney failure, diabetes mellitus, liver cirrhosis, tumor disease, malnutrition).
