- Inspection (viewing).
- Skin (normal: intact; abrasions/wounds, redness, hematomas (bruises), scars) and mucous membranes.
- Gait (fluid, limping).
- Body or joint posture (upright, bent, gentle posture).
- Malpositions [deformities, contractures, shortenings].
- Palpation (palpation) of the symphysis or pubic branches [tenderness?]
- Functional test: symphysis slack test: pain provocation during isometric tension of the adductors against resistance:If pain is indicated, this is called a positive symphysis slack test.
