Remove chest hair

The most popular and widespread methods of hair removal include typical shaving, epilation, waxing and various laser procedures. Shaving, especially wet shaving, is the fastest and most popular method of hair removal for men. Due to its simplicity it is suitable for every part of the body and easy to implement.

Chest hair can be trimmed, trimmed or even completely removed with an electric razor. The decisive advantage of shaving is its easy handling, availability and painlessness. The disadvantage, however, is the fast regrowth of the hair, so that the next shave is due after two to three days.

During epilation, the hairs are removed as a whole at the root using an epilator (with tweezers inside). The advantage of this method of hair removal is that the following hairs grow back more slowly and above all softer, so that the next epilation is only due after 2 weeks. The disadvantage of epilation, however, is the short pain when the hairs are pulled out.

This is often unpleasant, especially in sensitive areas such as the face, chest or intimate areas. If used incorrectly, the hair root can also grow into the skin, causing small inflammatory reactions (pimples) on the skin. The somewhat more pleasant alternative to waxing would be sugaring, in which the chest hairs are removed using a sugar paste in the direction of growth.

In combination with the various hair removal methods, the antibacterial and soothing care afterwards is particularly important. An example of this is the Dr. Severin Body After-Shave Balsam from the pharmacy. During waxing, the chest hairs are removed with cold wax strips or with the help of hot wax.

Under certain circumstances the waxing lasts up to 6 weeks, which is very attractive especially for women. Unfortunately, waxing, like epilating, is particularly painful on very hairy areas of the body such as the breast. If used incorrectly, the hair root can also grow into the skin, causing small inflammatory reactions (pimples) on the skin.

The somewhat more pleasant alternative to waxing would be sugaring, in which the chest hairs are removed in the direction of growth using a sugar paste. In drugstores and perfumeries you can also find special hair removal creams with which chest hair can be removed easily and without pain. This type of hair removal is popular with many men and ensures soft, smooth skin for up to 3 days.

However, since allergic reactions are not untypical, the cream should first be tried on a hair-free area of skin (back of the hand, crook of the arm) and observed for at least 24 hours. If allergic reactions such as severe pimples, redness, itching or wetting occur, another method of hair removal should be considered and in severe cases a doctor should be consulted. A completely different alternative to waxing and shaving is permanent hair removal.

This is based on the principle that the hair root is destroyed by external stimuli. The three most common methods of permanent hair removal are: laser treatment, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and electro depilation. As the name suggests, these applications gradually lead to permanent hairlessness.

The disadvantage of all three methods: they are very expensive. Laser beams have already been used successfully for a long time to treat unwanted hairs on the chest, legs and in the intimate area. The heat of the bundled light pulses of the laser “burns” the hair at its root.

This is noticeable by a short, pinching pain during the treatment. Piece by piece, in several sessions, each hair can be removed individually and regrowth can be permanently prevented. Dark hairs on light skin are particularly suitable for laser treatment.

The IPL procedure is a modern advancement of laser epilation (see above) and is currently a much sought-after alternative. In contrast to the laser, IPL uses light energy over a larger area, with which several hairs can be captured and sclerosed simultaneously. The advantages of this hair removal method are painlessness and the protection of the surrounding tissue.

Recently, IPL devices have also been available for domestic use. However, since laser treatments have different effects on every skin type and skin colour, a consultation with an expert doctor should always be held before an application.
