Side effects of Biolectra

As with all medicines, taking Biolectra with the ingredients magnesium and zinc is not without possible side effects. These occur with varying frequency and can be individually pronounced. Biolectra preparations containing the active ingredient magnesium are increasingly associated with diarrhoea and digestive disorders.

Products containing zinc can be associated with a metallic taste, headaches, fatigue and vomiting. The side effects can usually be controlled by adjusting the dosage or by suspending the intake. If the side effects persist, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted if necessary.

Interactions

When taking certain drugs and Biolectra preparations at the same time, undesirable interactions between the drugs can occur. For example, magnesium should not be taken together with antibiotics of the aminoglycoside or tetracycline group. Likewise, the antibiotically active substances nitrofurantoin and penicillamine should not be taken at the same time.

Undesirable interactions can occur when taking medication for cardiac arrhythmia. When taking magnesium and calcium channel blockers, as well as certain muscle relaxants at the same time, these substances often have an increased effect. Zinc can also reduce the effect of certain antibiotics, especially tetracyclines and quinolones.

The absorption of iron, copper, phosphate and calcium is also more difficult when zinc is taken at the same time. In order to be sure that no interactions are to be expected with the individual drug composition, an individual consultation with a doctor or pharmacist should be carried out. No interactions are known to occur when Biolectra preparations and alcohol are taken at the same time.

However, since excessive alcohol consumption can reduce the absorption of minerals, a dietary supplement with Biolectra Magnesium and Zinc is recommended for regular alcohol consumption. The body needs an increased amount of magnesium and zinc during pregnancy, therefore the Biolectra preparations Magnesium and Zinc can be used during pregnancy without any problems. There is generally nothing to be said against taking magnesium and zinc during pregnancy. As the need for these substances in the body is even increased during this period, an additional intake is sometimes recommended.

Biolectra for children

Children can also suffer from a magnesium or zinc deficiency and should therefore consider a dietary supplement when experiencing typical symptoms. Taking Biolectra preparations is unproblematic for children. Which dosage is sensible for children in each individual case should be discussed individually by a doctor or pharmacist.
