Skin rash on the legs during pregnancy
Skin rashes on the legs, which occur during pregnancy, usually have a harmless cause. For example, allergies to a certain shower gel or detergent may be behind them, and these can disappear quickly after avoiding these products. Sometimes neurodermatitis, which is then treated with cortisone, can also be behind a skin rash on the legs.
Pregnancy skin rash on the arms
In many cases during pregnancy, a reddish skin change occurs on one or both arms. Here, an allergy to a recently used shower gel or washing lotion can be the triggering reason. Neurodermatitis that has recently appeared during pregnancy can also be behind a rash on the arm.
The diagnostic possibilities are rather limited. Skin swabs are only taken if a fungal infection is suspected or if there is no improvement on an initiated drug treatment. If contact dermatitis is behind the rash, detergents or shower gels should be changed.
If neurodermatitis is the cause, treatment can be started with a cortisone preparation. Allergic contact eczema and neurodermatitis cause reddish-itching skin changes in the area of the arms. If, on the other hand, small reddish and itchy blisters appear on the arm, this is probably due to shingles. The blisters can also open up and drain fluid. This liquid is highly infectious, contact should be avoided.
Skin rash on the hands during pregnancy
Many women get problems with pimples or even acne during pregnancy for the first time since the end of puberty. This phenomenon is also due to increased hormone levels. These are responsible for boosting the production of sebum, i.e. oil.
If too much of it is present, however, the skin pores become clogged and pimples or even acne can develop. The same rules apply to pregnant women as to other people with acne: the skin should be well cleaned with a not too aggressive cleanser and moisturizers used should not contain oil. However, pregnant women should not take acne medication without consulting a doctor, as some ingredients of these products may be harmful during pregnancy.
