Strawberry skin rash in babies
Food allergies are not uncommon in babies and toddlers. They can occur a short time after the introduction of the porridge food. Thus strawberries in pureed form can be found in various fruit purees in baby food.
If an allergy occurs in babies, the symptoms are similar to those of adults. Itchy skin rashes and abdominal pain may occur, as well as swelling of the tongue and unpleasant itching of the mouth. Food allergies in babies can be dangerous because babies cannot express threatening symptoms such as dizziness, a drop in blood pressure or shortness of breath.
If a strawberry allergy is suspected, strawberries should not be fed under any circumstances and the symptoms should be clarified by a doctor. The good news, however, is that food allergies that first appear in very young children usually disappear spontaneously until they reach school age.
