- Small blood count
- Inflammatory parameters – CRP (C-reactive protein) or ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate).
- Fasting glucose (fasting blood glucose), if necessary oral glucose tolerance test (oGTT).
- Coagulation parameters – PTT, Quick
- Cholesterol (LDL and HDL cholesterol)
- Triglycerides
Laboratory parameters of 2nd order – depending on the results of the history, physical examination and obligatory laboratory parameters – for differential diagnostic clarification.
- Homocysteine
- Lipoprotein (a)
- Apolipoprotein E
- Fibrinogen
- Renal parameters – urea, creatinine, cystatin C if necessary.
- Blood gas analysis (BGA)
- Serological examination – for suspected infectious diseases.
- CSF puncture (collection of cerebrospinal fluid by puncture of the spinal canal) with serological/cytological examination – in the case of inconspicuous computed tomography (CT).
