Summary | Stomach ache after eating

Summary

Abdominal pain after eating is a very unspecific symptom and can have numerous causes. In most cases the causes of abdominal pain are relatively harmless and can often be improved by a change in diet. In some cases, however, abdominal pain is a sign of a serious illness.

For this reason, regularly occurring abdominal pain should always be clarified diagnostically. In doing so, both the organic causes, such as inflammation of the stomach lining, gallstones or food intolerances, and a psychosomatic component must be examined. This should never be disregarded, as abdominal pain can very often be an expression of stress or other psychological strain.
