Taste Disorders (Dysgeusia): Test and Diagnosis

2nd order laboratory parameters – depending on the results of the history, physical examination and obligatory laboratory parameters – for differential diagnostic clarification.

  • Small blood count
  • Differential blood count
  • Inflammatory parameters – CRP (C-reactive protein) or ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate).
  • Fasting glucose (fasting blood glucose), if necessary oral glucose tolerance test (oGTT).
  • Thyroid parameters – TSH
  • Renal parameters – urea, creatinine, creatinine clearance if necessary.
  • Serological examination – if bacterial, mycotic, viral, parasitic or infections are suspected.
  • Tumor markers – depending on the suspected diagnosis.
  • Vitamins – B12 and folic acid
  • Molecular genetic testing – if a genetic disease is suspected.
