The prognosis | Pain under the ribs

The prognosis

The prognosis cannot be determined in general for pain under the ribs. Tension and nerve entrapment can improve within a few hours to days. Other irritations and overloading of the muscles usually do not take more than a few days for the muscle to recover and regenerate.

Bone contusions and fractures require longer recovery time. The more severe the contusion, the longer the healing process is delayed. With fractures, the bone needs time to grow together.

The duration can be several weeks. If the pain under the ribs is of organic origin, the disease can sometimes be immediately remedied by specific interventions, but often the focus is on a lengthy therapy, the duration of which is often not foreseeable.
