These cold teas are available

The typical ingredients of cold teas are various herbal products, some of which are used very often. On the one hand, one often finds tea mixtures or preparation instructions for making it yourself with lime blossoms and elderberry blossoms. These should have a fever-reducing effect, promote sleep and satisfy coughs.

Also fennel is not only good for calming the stomach, but can also have a soothing effect on colds. Especially rich in healthy ingredients are cold teas, which are made from fresh ginger (see below for more detailed information). Among other things, ginger can relieve sore throats and thus make the use of an analgesic unnecessary.

Also suitable here are cold teas based on sage. This can be drunk as a tea for colds or gargled after letting it steep for a long time. Another typical ingredient that is often added to a cold tea is honey (see below for more information).

Because of the sweetness, many people like the tea better and drink more of it, which is important for getting healthy. In addition, the ingredients of honey can have a cough-relieving effect. Ginger also contains vitamins and trace elements such as magnesium, calcium and iron. Because of this multitude of health-promoting ingredients, ginger is used to treat various diseases such as a cold. The best way to do this is to prepare a fresh ginger tea.

To do this, put two tablespoons of freshly grated ginger in a pot, add a liter of water and let it boil for about ten minutes. Afterwards the cold tea is strained and, if necessary, refined with a little honey or lemon juice according to taste. Basically it is important to drink a lot when you have a cold.

A ginger-based cold tea can also usually relieve symptoms such as sore throats. The effect of the gingerolen contained in this tea is similar to that of certain painkillers. Ginger is also said to have a germicidal effect and to stimulate the body’s own defence system.

However, there is no scientific evidence for these effects. The same applies to the assumption that a cold can be prevented by regular consumption of fresh ginger tea. In addition, drinking tea for colds made from ginger root does not make you healthy any faster than if you only drink water or other tea.

Nevertheless, ginger tea is a good household remedy for a cold, as it alleviates symptoms and may make the use of painkillers unnecessary. A tea for colds with honey is particularly popular as a household remedy for fighting a cold. The bee product contains a large number of healthy ingredients such as vitamins, trace elements and antioxidants.

Although the soothing effect on complaints such as cough or sore throat by drinking tea for colds with honey is widespread, there is no definitive scientific proof of this. However, recent studies have shown that children with colds sleep better if they drink tea with honey before going to bed. Compared to a placebo group, there were significantly fewer nocturnal cough attacks.

Even if honey does not get rid of a cold faster, it still relieves the symptoms. Therefore, when coughing, for example, one can dissolve one or two teaspoons of honey in the tea before going to bed and brushing one’s teeth and enjoy it warm.
