Thigh protectors for sports

Especially when performing sports exercises, excessive rubbing of the thighs against each other can occur. Many athletes know the problem of the warm summer months, when long sports shorts are too hot, but short shorts always slip while running. This can lead to an unpleasant feeling on the skin with irritations even during sport.

The skin problems are then aggravated by each further exercise. That is why it is recommended to use thigh protectors, which protect especially this part of the inner thigh. Some pads are equipped with a thin silicone strip that prevents slipping even during extensive exercise.

Thigh protectors are used, for example, for tennis, jogging, hiking or soccer. There are also special thigh protectors for men that not only protect the thighs but also the genitals. In the crotch a protective device is then inserted, which can prevent injuries, especially during contact sports. In addition, there are also knee pads whose thigh protection reaches far upwards and can be used well for inline skating, for example.

What do I have to consider when using the product?

Textiles that do not cause an allergic reaction on the patient’s skin should be used. Skin irritations can also occur if the materials do not fit properly and rub the thigh. In addition, there must be a precise introduction to putting on and wearing the thigh protector, as there will be no constrictions or damaging compressions under any circumstances. This always endangers the blood circulation and supply of the locally adjacent tissue.

This can also lead to lymph drainage disorders. This can then lead to oedema (water retention) or inflammation. A change in the blood flow always brings with it an increased risk of thrombosis.

In the case of long-term use or therapy, thrombosis prophylaxis should be considered if certain risk factors are present. Depending on the reason for wearing a ligament-stabilizing thigh protector, it should not be worn too long or too often if a complete muscle build-up is desired. Here, too frequent wearing can lead to unwanted muscle atrophy in the leg on which the protector is worn.
