Treatment | Abdominal pain and nausea

Treatment

To treat abdominal pain and nausea, the cause must first be found out. A temporary change of diet to light food may be necessary. In the case of severe gastrointestinal infections, a dietary break may also be necessary.

If the nausea is very severe, so-called antiemetics can be taken as an anti-emetic. Especially if there are signs of dehydration, such as a dry mouth, the nausea should be suppressed to keep fluid loss to a minimum. There are many home remedies for stomach aches and also for nausea.

Not all of them work against both complaints at the same time; however, the remedies can be combined or, depending on the individual’s condition, the dominant symptom can be treated more intensively. Warm compresses or even a lavender bath can help against both complaints. The warmth supplied can relieve the abdominal cramps and thus reduce abdominal pain and nausea.

Ginger or chamomile tea can also help against both complaints. The ginger can be chewed in small pieces or taken as tea. It has an effective effect against bacteria and viruses and thus protects the intestinal flora from unwanted pathogens.

Chamomile also has an antibacterial effect and at the same time prevents inflammation. Herbal tea or various scented oils in a scented lamp or as scented candles can help against nausea alone. Lavender or citrus scents are particularly suitable for this.

The scented oils should be handled carefully at first. Use a small amount of the oil at the beginning and observe how the intensive smell gets you. Depending on your individual condition, a smell that is too intense can also increase nausea.

Peppermint tea, on the other hand, which has a relaxing effect on the gastrointestinal muscles, can help against stomach aches. However, the relaxation of the muscles can also lead to an increased reflux of stomach acid into the oesophagus, thus increasing the nausea or triggering heartburn. So if you suffer more from nausea than from stomach ache, you should rather avoid peppermint tea.

Fennel and aniseed caraway tea can also help. It leads to increased gastrointestinal activity, which is why you should proceed with caution in the case of accompanying nausea. In homeopathy, too, it is true that not all remedies are effective against both symptoms at the same time.

For this purpose, individual medications must be combined or, depending on the individual condition, the more dominant symptom must be treated. As a classic example for homeopathy globules can be used here. Nux vomica globules are especially helpful against nausea in connection with abdominal pain.

Nux vomica is the so-called nux vomica, which contains the nerve poison strychnine. In low concentrations it is effective against nausea, as it inhibits stomach activity. Arsenicum album globules are also derived from the poison arsenic.

In low doses in the form of globules, they are mainly effective against nausea, but also against burning stomach aches. Cocculus globules, the so-called, also help against nausea. These are particularly effective against nausea during pregnancy or travel nausea.
