What are the benefits of Yoga during pregnancy?
In principle, yoga can also be practiced during pregnancy if there are no medical complications. However, it depends on the individual circumstances, so pregnant women should consult their gynecologist beforehand to find out whether and which yoga exercises can be performed. Typical pregnancy complaints can be alleviated by yoga.
In the meantime, there are also special yoga courses for pregnant women. In general, asanas that involve lying on the stomach, jumping or, for example, standing on your head, should be avoided during pregnancy. Yoga beginners are advised not to start with the asanas until the 12th week of pregnancy under the guidance of experienced teachers. Expectant mothers who already have a lot of experience with yoga and who also do yoga at home can usually maintain this. However, the principle that applies to all yoga exercises should also be observed: the movements should never be painful or unpleasant and the flow of breath should not be impeded.
Yoga for children
The positive effects of yoga can be enjoyed not only by stressed adults, but also by children. In children, yoga is intended to promote the ability to concentrate and strengthen their own body awareness and serves as a balance to performance-oriented sports. There are now also special yoga courses for children and young people in which the individual asanas are introduced to the children in a playful way.
Music and short stories are often integrated. From pre-school age on, the children are usually able to concentrate on themselves and complete short exercise sequences under supervision. However, no child should be sent to yoga reluctantly, because especially pressure and compulsion have nothing to do with the philosophy of yoga.
