Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of diabetes insipidus.
Family history
- Are there any diseases in your family that are common?
- Are there any hereditary diseases in your family?
Social anamnesis
Current medical history/systemic medical history (somatic and psychological complaints).
- Have you noticed any change in urination?
- How long has this change been going on?
- How often do you have to urinate every day? Also at night?
- How much do you drink daily?
- Do you have a lot of thirst? How many liters of fluid do you drink a day?
Vegetative anamnesis incl. nutritional anamnesis
- Have you unintentionally lost/gained body weight recently? If so, how much in what time?
- Have you noticed any changes in your bowel movements?
Self history including medication history.
- Pre-existing conditions (injuries, infections)
- Operations
- Allergies
- Pregnancies
- Environmental history (contact with snakes, fish).
Medication history
- Aminoglycosides – group of antibiotics such as gentamycin, neomycin.
- Amphotericin B (antifungal) – drug against fungal infections.
- Cisplatin (cytostatic drug)
- Demeclocycline – antibiotic from the group of tetracyclines.
- Foscarnet (virostatic) – drug against viral infections.
- Lithium – alkali metal, which is used mainly in psychiatric disorders.
- Methoxyflurane – drug, which was previously used as a narcotic.
- Rifampicin – antibiotic used in the treatment of tuberculosis.
