Diagnosis
The diagnosis must always begin with a specific questioning about the time, place and type of pain. Accompanying symptoms and potential triggers can also provide important information. Further examinations can then be performed.
In the case of muscular complaints, the cause can often be determined by a physical examination. Numerous means are available for diagnosing the chest and upper abdominal organs. For example, in the case of recurrent pain originating from the heart, a so-called catheter examination can reveal possible narrowing of the coronary arteries.
What to do if you have pain between the shoulder blades?
The therapy varies greatly with the identified cause. Muscular complaints often require no therapy. Only light massages and heat therapies can accelerate the healing process.
Spinal column diseases are also difficult to treat. Chronic complaints mainly require muscle building and exercises to support the spine. Symptomatic pain therapy is also used in most cases for a herniated disc of the spinal column.
Only in some cases surgery may become necessary. The therapy of diseases of the lung, heart, stomach or pancreas must be very specifically targeted to the clinical picture. A heart attack must be treated in a clinic according to certain criteria.
These include both drug therapies and interventional therapies. Tumor diseases, which are only rarely behind the pain, may be treated surgically and with medication. When taping, two basic methods must be distinguished.
There is a conventional tape, which is stuck tightly to the skin, restricts movement and supports joint functions. Nowadays, however, it is often referred to as “kinesio tape”. This is an elastic tape that is also glued tightly to the skin.
It does not restrict movement, but the slight external pulling effect is intended to make people more aware of their movements. This should result in less jerky movements, so that strains and tensions occur less often. In addition, the tape promotes blood circulation under the skin and has a warming effect. The tape can be applied in sports for prevention or in case of muscular injuries to support therapy.
