Exercises

In order to alleviate children’s bad posture and back problems, there are a number of exercises that aim to specifically stretch and strengthen muscle groups in order to control the problems and improve posture. 1) Stretching the chest muscles The child is asked to cross their hands behind their back and then raise their arms until a stretch is felt in the chest. Hold these for 15-20 seconds.

3 repetitions. 2) Spine Straightening Exercise The child is asked to sit on a chair with his face facing the backrest. Now the child should grasp the backrest with his hands and try to bring his chest closer to the backrest without coming closer to it.

Hold the final position briefly and start a second session after that. 3) Strengthening the muscles of the lower back In this exercise the child lies on his back with his legs in a straight position and pushes the buttocks towards the ceiling, so that they form a bridge. Hold this position for 20 seconds. 3 passes.4) Stretching exercise to straighten the spine In this exercise the child should try to lead the right arm over the shoulder behind the back and grab the right hand with the left hand diagonally from below. Growth spurt

A growth spurt is defined as a leap in child development. Growth spurts can vary in duration. Although most growth spurts are completed within 3 days, a growth spurt can also last 3-4 weeks.

A growth spurt can be very stressful, especially for small children but also for older ones. In general, the frequency of growth spurts depends on the age of the children and is divided into 3 phases. Within the scope of the growth spurts a variety of problems can occur.

For example, children may develop a visual or hearing impairment, have learning difficulties or delayed language learning, suffer from painful joints or develop spinal problems during a growth spurt. For these reasons, it is important to observe the growth of the children and have it checked during regular visits to the doctor so that possible illnesses or problems can be detected early and treated accordingly. • Between 0-2 years the growth is particularly strong (between 20-25cm per year).
  • From the 2nd year of life until the beginning of puberty, the number of growth spurts decreases and growth levels settle at 4-7cm per year.
  • In puberty the growth spurts increase again due to the hormonal changes, so that up to 12cm growth per year is possible. At the end of puberty, the growth joints ossify, which is the reason why continuous growth is possible, so that one is grown up in adulthood.
