The facelift describes a surgical method that serves to remove wrinkles from the skin. The facelift belongs to the group of plastic-aesthetic operations and is therefore not covered by either public or private health insurance. During the facelift, the plastic surgeon tries to tighten the superficial skin of the face and the underlying tissues and to give new tension to the slack areas. The result of a successfully performed facelift is a rejuvenation of the patient’s facial features.
Performance of the facelift
The procedure of a facelift depends primarily on the initial condition, i.e. the degree of sagging of the facial skin, and the extent of the operation. Basically, plastic-aesthetic surgery distinguishes between a complete facelift and the treatment of individual areas (for example: forehead lift and cheek lift). To achieve the smoothing of a specific area, both the skin and muscle structures must be tightened and sutured to fixed structures by attaching sutures.
Following the actual facelift, the excess skin is removed and the resulting skin edge is sutured as inconspicuously as possible. In patients with only a slight flaccidity of the skin, the treating physician can resort to a method of treatment without incisions (so-called suture lifting). During thread lifting, gold or plastic threads are used to fix and tighten the skin tissue. However, this procedure is based on the problem that excess skin cannot be removed and the effectiveness is therefore limited.
What is a facelift by massage?
There are different massage tricks for a firm facial skin. In general, if you want to tighten your face with massages, the massages should be used regularly to achieve success. Massage salons often offer facelifting massages, for example Thai facelifting massages or Indian methods to tighten the face.
Think wrinkles on the forehead can be smoothed out by stroking with light pressure with the fingertips from the middle of the forehead to the temples. To firm the skin around the cheeks and mouth, the massage begins in the area from the nose to the ears. It starts at the nostrils and strokes gently along the cheek bones.
Form a V with middle and index finger, start above and below the lips and pull the movement up to the ears. To finally tighten the chin, knead the skin with thumb and index finger along the chin up to the ears. More pressure can be applied to tighten the contour.
If there is a frown line between the eyebrows, you should alternately stroke with your index finger in the direction of the eyebrow. For a lifting of the drooping eyelids, start the massage with circular movements from the root of the nose under the eyes to the temples. Then place the ring finger and the base of the eyebrows on top and push them slightly upwards. The eye is closed and you massage with your fingers along the brow. Under light pressure, move the finger up to the ears.
