Homeopathic remedies for fever

The normal body temperature is between 36.3°C and 37.4°C. Fever means an increase in body temperature above 38°C. In children this value is even 38.5°C, as they generally have a slightly elevated temperature.

The occurrence of fever is a sign of the body indicating that the body’s immune system is activated and working. In addition, there is often chills and sweating. Fever occurs with various diseases.

These include infections, such as influenza or otitis media. Other inflammatory diseases also frequently cause fever. There are various homeopathic remedies that have a fever-reducing effect.

These homeopathics are used

The following homeopathics can be used in the case of fever:

  • Aconitum napellus
  • Belladonna
  • Bryonia alba
  • Gel-semium
  • Ferrum phosphoricum
  • Eupatorium perfoliatum

When is it used: Aconitum napellus is used for various inflammations. These include urinary tract infections, colds, eye inflammation and the use of the homeopathic remedy to reduce fever. Effect: The homeopathic remedy is especially effective in acute inflammations, as it leads to the relief of pain and the regulation of the immune system.

This can also lower the fever. Dosage: Acute fever should be treated with the homeopathic remedy in the potency D6 by taking it several times a day. For chronic diseases potency D12 may be sufficient.

When to use: The homeopathic remedy Belladonna can be used in case of inflammation of the urinary bladder, as well as the paranasal sinuses or in case of flu and to fight fever. Effect: The homeopathic remedy has a regulating effect on the body’s immune system and reduces the inflammatory reaction and the associated symptoms. Dosage: Belladonna can be dosed with potency D6 for acute fever.

In case of chronic complaints the dose should be adjusted to potency D12. When to use: Bryonia can be used not only for inflammation, such as bronchitis or flu and to lower fever, but also for migraine and abdominal colic. Effect: The homeopathic remedy has a particularly good effect on inner skins, i.e. also mucous membranes in the body.

It provides relief from inflammation and the associated symptoms, including fever. Dosage: The dosage of the homeopathic remedy is recommended in acutely occurring inflammations with the intake of globules in potency D6 several times a day. When to use: Gelsemium can be used in case of infections accompanied by fever.

Gelsemium can also be used for joint complaints or stress reactions, such as excitement or stage fright. Effect: The homeopathic remedy is particularly effective for diseases that are accompanied by a feeling of physical weakness. It stimulates the metabolism and relieves inflammation and fever.

Dosage: For inflammations that are accompanied by fever, Gelsemium is recommended to be dosed with the globules of potency D6. Adapted to the symptoms, it should be taken several times a day. When to use: Ferrum phosphoricum can be used in many ways.

It is used for nosebleeds, as well as for gastrointestinal complaints or colds and fever. Effect: The homeopathic remedy, which can also be used as Schüssler salt, has a supportive effect on many metabolic processes. It promotes the defence against pathogens and has a soothing effect in case of fever.

Dosage: The dosage is adjusted to the symptoms with different potencies. In case of fever, potency D6 is usually recommended, but it should not be taken more than six times a day. When is it used: The homeopathic drug Eupatorium perfoliatum is used mainly for flu-like infections, which are accompanied by typical headaches, aching limbs and fever.

Effect: Eupatorium perfoliatum has a good effect on acute symptoms associated with a strong immune reaction. It ensures regulation of inflammatory processes. Dosage: Dosage of the homeopathic remedy is recommended with potencies D6 or D12.
