Homeopathy for Crohn’s disease

The following complications can occur in Crohn’s disease:

  • Mechanical intestinal obstruction (ileus): Constrictions of the intestinal lumen (intestinal tube) are usually inflammatory in the initial stage, later they become fibrous (due to adhesions of connective tissue).
  • Fistulas: pathological connections e.g. between two intestinal loops (enteroenteric), between intestinal loops and the bladder (enterovesical) or the vagina (enterovaginal); fistulas are the most frequent complication of Crohn’s disease.
  • Blood in stool (blood in stool can be recognized by its consistency and color: so-called tar stool): can be passed to the large intestine

Nutrition in Crohn’s disease

Diet naturally plays a major role in chronic inflammatory bowel disease and can help to prolong the relapse-free periods and minimize disease-related complaints. However, there are no fixed dietary recommendations for patients with Crohn’s disease; every patient should find out by trial and error which foods are good for him and which are not. A dietary diary, in which the type and time of eating and any subsequent complaints are documented, can help to identify foods that are not tolerated.

However, it is not only the food itself that matters, but also how it is prepared. For example, forms of preparation such as steaming, steaming, cooking, light browning or boiling are often better tolerated than deep-frying, breading, roasting or heavy browning in lots of fat. But here, too, the motto is: try it out, try it out, try it out!

Prophylaxis

Unfortunately, there is no prophylaxis for Crohn’s disease because the cause(s) of the disease has not yet been sufficiently researched or established. However, an attempt should be made to minimize the relapses by paying attention to nutrition. Food that is poorly tolerated should therefore be avoided.

Smoking should also be avoided. It is not possible to avoid the relapses completely. You can only try to contain them if they occur once.
