Bubonic plague (bubonic plague)
Symptoms
- High fever
- Chills
- Cephalgia (headache)
- Limb pain
- Painful lymph node enlargement, especially inguinal (groin), axillary (armpit), and cervical (neck) lymph nodes
Pneumonic plague
Symptoms
- High fever
- Chills
- Cephalgia (headache)
- Fatigue
- Cough
- Bloody sputum (hemoptysis; hemoptysis)
- Dyspnea (shortness of breath)
- Tachypnea (accelerated breathing)
- Chest pain (chest pain)
- Abdominal discomfort (abdominal pain)
- Nausea (nausea)/vomiting
- Pulmonary edema (accumulation of water in the lungs)
- Cardiovascular failure
Plague sepsis
Symptoms
- Fever
- Tachycardia (heartbeat too fast: > 100 beats per minute).
- Fatigue, lethargy
- Abdominal discomfort (abdominal pain)
- Nausea (nausea)/vomiting
- Confusion
- Splenomegaly (enlargement of the spleen)
- Hepatomegaly (liver enlargement)
- Bleeding from the skin and/or organs
- Shock, cardiovascular failure
- Renal failure (ANV)
- Ileus (intestinal obstruction)
- Pestmeningitis (meningitis)
