Positive effect of L-Carnitine
In general one can say about the dosage of L-Carnitine that a clearly positive effect occurs mainly when taking it due to a deficiency symptom. Especially people with low fat burning, fatigue, listlessness and lack of energy supply can expect a significant anabolic effect through the additional intake of L-carnitine. A positive effect can also be achieved with endurance and strength athletes. However, in addition to regular training, a low-calorie diet should also be followed, since supplementation of L-carnitine otherwise causes little or no effects. L-carnitine can cause very significant effects, especially when losing weight, and can reduce weight in the long term.
Dosage of L – Carnitine
Studies could prove that an intake of 2000 mg L-Carnitine can cause a significant weight reduction. At the exact time of taking the dose, the following guidelines should be roughly followed:
- Bodybuilders and endurance athletes should generally take L-carnitine 30 – 60 minutes before a training session.
- For adults, the maximum recommended dosage is 5000 mg per day.
- For children, the recommended dose is 25-100 mg per kg of body weight, which should not be exceeded.
- Particularly with infants and children one should pay attention that sufficient L-Carnitine is taken up over the food, since only starting from the 15th year of life the L-Carnitinsynthese is fully functional.
- Vegetarians, vegans, competitive athletes, pregnant women, nursing mothers, people suffering from iron deficiency, women taking the pill and people under constant stress often have an L-carnitine deficiency and should therefore add up to 1000 mg L-carnitine per day to their diet.
