Preventing a cold in a toddler

Since the immune system of babies and toddlers is still developing and therefore often not yet optimally trained, it is easy for the little ones to have to go through up to twelve or more colds a year. In order to prevent this, it is important to strengthen and support the immune system in infancy. This can be achieved on the one hand by encouraging playing and romping around outdoors and on the other hand by a balanced and vitamin-rich food intake.

It is also important for parents to pay attention to hand hygiene: regular hand washing with soap after the toilet, before eating, after playing outside and after returning from kindergarten can help to eliminate a large proportion of viruses. In the same way, regular airing of the main rooms can help to minimize the number of viruses. Always keep your feet dry and warm, as well as your headgear appropriate to the temperature, as children lose a lot of heat over their heads.
