A comprehensive clinical examination is the basis for selecting further diagnostic steps:
- General physical examination – including blood pressure, pulse, body weight, height; further:
- Inspection (viewing).
- Skin, mucous membranes and sclerae (white part of the eye).
- Anus (anus) [reddened mucosa? bulge-like appearance of anus?]
- Palpation of inguinal lymph nodes (palpation of lymph nodes in the inguinal region)?
- Digital rectal examination (DRU): examination of the rectum (rectum) and adjacent organs with the finger by palpation[due todifferential diagnoses: anal fissure, anal fistula, hemorrhoidal disease, perianal abscess (encapsulated collection of pus located in the area of the anus)].
- Inspection (viewing).
- Dermatological examination – if venereal disease is suspected.
- Health check
