Prognosis
Even in patients with only mild symptoms, an inflammation of the ankle joint is in urgent need of treatment. Failure to initiate appropriate therapy carries the risk of chronification of the inflammatory processes. In general, however, it can be assumed that an inflammation in the area of the ankle usually heals without complications.
