Prospects of recovery | Insoles for heel spurs

Prospects of recovery

The heel spur is clearly an area of conservative orthopedics, so that a large number of patients can be helped to significant relief without surgery. However, the duration of the therapy varies from patient to patient. Especially the conservative measures such as wearing insoles are usually rather lengthy, as they are much less risky than surgery.

For some patients, wearing customized insoles can bring about a significant improvement after just one week, for others it takes up to 6 weeks. The heel spur is usually caused by a foot malposition and develops over years, so it is easy to imagine that healing also takes time. Healing in the sense of conservative therapy means long-term freedom from symptoms by alleviating irritation and relieving the surrounding soft tissue.

In many cases, it can take years until complete healing occurs. In order to maintain a long-term healing it is important to continue wearing the insoles regularly even after the temporary disappearance of symptoms and to conscientiously perform special exercises to strengthen the muscles over a longer period of time.
