Effect
The main effect of Sodium sulfuricum is to eliminate, or more precisely to laxate. As Glauber’s salt, the original substance, i.e. the non-potentiated form, has been used for a long time to support fasting periods or to treat constipation. This effect is mainly based on the fact that it reduces the water absorption in the large intestine.
In the digestive tract, the large intestine is responsible for thickening the stool by removing water from it and absorbing it into the body (“reabsorbing”). Glauber’s salt increases the relative amount of salt molecules in the intestinal tract and thus provides a so-called increased osmotic pressure. Water molecules are thereby stimulated to flow into the intestinal tract and stay there to balance the ratio of water to salt molecules.
As a result, far less water can be removed from the stool: it remains liquid. Schüssler salts are however potentiated. This means that, depending on the potency, the original substance is not necessarily contained more. A strong laxative effect should therefore not be expected when taking the 10th Schüssler salt. Rather, a stimulus that Sodium sulfuricum gives the body.
Schüssler Salt No. 10 as ointment
Like most Schüssler salts, Sodium sulfuricum can be used internally as well as externally. An ointment offers probably the simplest form of administration for external use and is used for skin diseases whose presumed cause is contamination by toxins or viruses. These include herpes blisters, warts or skin fungal diseases.
An ointment containing Sodium sulfuricum can also alleviate the symptoms of allergic eczema, neurodermatitis or psoriasis. In addition, an application of Sodium sulfuricum can be attempted in poorly healing wounds, as the poor healing can be caused by the smallest amounts of toxins in the body or in the wound. The ointment or cream can be applied thinly once or twice a day to the appropriate areas of skin until the desired improvement is achieved. The dosage is usually chosen in potency D6. For a more precise individual dosage, a trained specialist such as an alternative practitioner should be consulted.
