These gloves are available and so they help

Since it is often not possible to change jobs or neglect housework, contact with triggering substances should be avoided. For this purpose, gloves should be worn when working with substances that cause neurodermatitis on the hands. This prevents the substance from touching the skin.

However, since wearing rubber or latex gloves, for example in the context of medical professions, can also trigger neurodermatitis, it is important to wear the right gloves. Cotton gloves which are pulled under the other gloves have proven to be effective. The sweat produced by wearing the gloves is absorbed by the cotton gloves and prevents the skin from being irritated.

Furthermore, gloves are offered that can be worn at night. On the one hand, they serve to ensure that the cream remains on the skin and is not wiped off during sleep. On the other hand, the gloves prevent the scratching irritation caused by the severe itching, as the nails are not exposed.

Thus the skin is better protected and the eczema cannot get worse. Sometimes gloves containing silver fibers are offered. They are supposed to reduce the symptoms of neurodermatitis.

On the one hand, they can be worn at night to relieve the itching. In addition, the gloves are said to have an effect that is supposed to accelerate the healing of affected skin areas. The silver also has an antibacterial effect and thus prevents the spread of bacteria on affected skin areas.

Why are the palms of the hands particularly often affected?

Neurodermatitis on the hands is often caused by contact with external factors. Since the palms of the hands are used for gripping, rashes often occur here.In general, however, the palm and back of the hand are affected, especially if the triggers affect the entire hand.

Duration and prognosis

The duration of a relapse depends on the severity of the eczema. On the other hand, the duration depends on the time until treatment. If the eczema is not treated, it can persist for several weeks or not disappear at all until treatment is given.

Since neurodermatitis is triggered by certain factors, the triggers should be avoided. If they are not avoided, the rash on the hands will occur again and again. In some cases – especially if neurodermatitis already occurs in childhood – the onset of eczema can disappear again in adulthood. Often these rashes come again and again.
