The following are the major diseases or complications that may be contributed to by human herpes virus type 6B:

Infectious and parasitic diseases (A00-B99).

  • Immunosuppression may lead to reactivation of the virus with severe infections such as pneumonia (pneumonia) or encephalitis (encephalitis); in organ transplantation, this may lead to rejection reactions
