Treatment | Premenstrual syndrome and nausea

Treatment

Home remedies such as ginger or peppermint can be used to treat the nausea. In case of very strong nausea or failed attempts to use the household remedies, the doctor may also prescribe medication for the nausea. The preparations against nausea are called antiemetics and can be purchased in pharmacies, some of them over the counter.

As a rule, they should only be used for a few days. If there are other strong PMS symptoms besides nausea, the administration of a hormonal contraceptive, i.e. the contraceptive pill, may be considered. This has an effect on the hormone cycle and can lead to a reduction in PMS symptoms.

Home remedies

Ginger is one of the best known home remedies for nausea in PMS syndrome. The tuber can be prepared in different forms. One variant is the preparation of a ginger tea.

For this, the ginger is cut into small pieces and poured over with hot water. After about 5-10 minutes the tea can be drunk. Peppermint can also help against nausea.

Affected persons can make tea from the mint, which is then drunk in sips. The smell of a mint-containing fragrance (e.g. peppermint essential oil) can also relieve nausea. The aroma of a lemon is also said to have a healing effect on nausea. The lemon is simply divided into pieces. In this way, the smell can unfold and, in the best case, help to relieve nausea.

Homeopathy

Nux vomica (nux vomica) can be used for the homeopathic treatment of PMS nausea. It is especially helpful against complaints in the abdominal area. In addition, it is also said to be effective against chest and back pain in the context of PM syndrome.

Duration

The duration of the nausea also depends on the treatment. Many women benefit from the use of the above mentioned home remedies and can thus successfully eliminate nausea. Others resort to medication and can also fight the nausea in this way if necessary. Without treatment, the duration of PMS nausea can, in the worst case, last from several hours to several days.
