If you do not want to perform a Strep-A rapid test, you should consult a physician if you suspect an infection with the bacterium. The doctor can prepare a bacterial culture, with which the bacteria can be multiplied on a special nutrient medium and then identified. In addition, the detection of antistreptolysin-O-antibodies (ASLO) in the blood and of antistreptococci DNAse B (antibodies against the enzyme “DNAse B” formed by Streptococcus pyogenes) in the laboratory can be requested.
