What to do with the child?

In children who suffer from stomach cramps, it is first of all important to find out the cause of the symptoms.Especially if the cramps persist for a long time or are accompanied by other symptoms, going to a pediatrician is always the right decision. If the stomach cramps are harmless, home remedies can also be very effective for children. A hot-water bottle, a cherry pit cushion or warm compresses on the stomach area can work wonders.

These household remedies should be tried out before taking medication. Herbal teas, healing earth, honey or other household remedies can also help children with stomach cramps very well. If household remedies do not bring any success in treatment, a doctor should be consulted at the latest then. The doctor can prescribe antispasmodic medication or (depending on the cause of the stomach cramps) initiate other therapy. General information can be found here: Abdominal pain in children

What to do for stomach pain and diarrhea?

Stomach pain and diarrhea are often food intolerances or gastrointestinal infections. In the case of food intolerance, it is essential to observe exactly after which meals the complaints occur and what exactly was eaten in each case. In this way, the culprit can usually be quickly exposed and can be avoided in the future.

Complaints are then no longer to be expected. As long as the intolerable food is in the body, not much can be done apart from symptomatic treatment with heat and antispasmodic drugs. The same applies to gastrointestinal infections.

The diarrhea expels the pathogen from the intestine. In addition, the immune system works on eliminating the germ. Usually a gastro-intestinal infection is over within a few days.

Meanwhile, it is a matter of waiting and taking various measures to relieve the symptoms. These include, for example, applying heat in the painful area using a hot-water bottle, cherry pit pillows or warm compresses, herbal teas (for example chamomile, fennel, peppermint, caraway) and easily digestible foods (potatoes, steamed vegetables, vegetable stock, rice, etc.). If the symptoms do not subside within a few days, a doctor should be consulted to further clarify the cause of the symptoms.
