When should I not take Thyronaiod?

Like all other drugs, Thyronajod® must not be used if you are allergic to levothyroxine, potassium iodide or any of the other components of Thyronajod®. Particular attention must be paid to previous reactions to iodine-containing contrast media or iodine-containing drugs such as amiodarone for cardiac arrhythmia. A few rare skin diseases triggered by iodine, such as a special form of vascular inflammation, should also lead to the decision to dispense with Thyronajod®.

Before taking Thyronajod®, it must be ruled out that the thyroid gland has so-called autonomous areas. These areas produce thyroxine uncontrollably and the production rate would increase uncontrollably if additional Thyronajod® were taken. If a so-called autonomous area is suspected, this suspicion should be clarified by further examinations so that the administration of Thyronajod® can be carried out depending on the results.

Logically, Thyronajod® should also not be taken if you suffer from your own overproduction of thyroxine as part of hyperthyroidism. Since the metabolically enhancing effect of Thyronajod® will also have an effect on the cardiovascular system, the use of Thyronajod® must be carefully weighed up in the case of diseases of the cardiovascular system such as myocardial infarction, coronary heart disease, inflammation of the heart muscle (myocarditis) or the pericardium (pericarditis), but also high blood pressure, or these diseases must be excluded before taking it. The reason for this is that an increased metabolism and stimulation of the circulation is always associated with more work for this system.

Already damaged parts of this system can possibly fail due to this additional workload and life-threatening situations such as heart attack, cardiac arrhythmia, heart failure or even hypertension crises can occur. During the regular intake of Thyronajod® these diseases should be closely monitored. Further caution should be exercised in women beyond the menopause. Here the dose should be chosen very carefully, as too much hormone can trigger or accelerate osteoporosis. Due to the metabolism-enhancing effect of Thyronajod®, the bone metabolism is accelerated.
