Which antibiotic is the best?
There is no antibiotic that is considered the most effective against periodontitis. Since there are different bacteria that are the cause of gingivitis, there are also many different antibiotics, because each bacterium is fought by a specific antibiotic. Before choosing the appropriate antibiotic, a microbiological test in the form of a swab must be carried out in the laboratory to find out the exact strain of bacteria that is responsible for the inflammation.
A very commonly used antibiotic is amoxicillin. It is often prescribed because it works against the most common bacterial strain, Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans. Since this antibiotic has no effect on other bacteria, various active ingredients are combined.
Salt water for gum inflammation
is considered disinfectant. The mode of action works in such a way that the salt attracts liquid. An inflammation always causes swelling.
The salt removes the fluid from the gums. Thus it reduces swelling. The advantage is that the tissue can then be better supplied with blood.
In the blood are antibodies, which can be distributed throughout the gums. Salt also stimulates the body’s own saliva production. This is because saliva contains antibodies that bind and kill bacteria and thus relieve inflammation.
In addition, salt water is said to relieve pain, because the pressure decreases as soon as the swelling subsides. One teaspoon of salt is dissolved in a glass of lukewarm water. A suitable salt is simple sea salt or Emser salt. However, the use of salt water should not be exaggerated, because the salt attacks the tooth enamel in the long run. In the morning, at noon and in the evening this mouthrinse should be used in the course of tooth cleaning.
Medication for pain
Painkillers are often used to treat pain during gingivitis. Ibuprofen is most likely to be prescribed. The doctor will give you Ibuprofen 600 on prescription.
Ibuprofen with 400 mg active ingredient is freely available. If the pain does not subside after 3 days, a doctor should always be consulted. Compared to paracetamol, ibuprofen is also anti-inflammatory.
The cause of the pain is therefore treated additionally. The same applies to aspirin. The active ingredient is both anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving.
Aspirin is also well tolerated. Many of the above-mentioned, freely available drugs are also effective against pain. In addition, the pain is relieved when antibacterial agents are used and the inflammation subsides.
Applying the oral medication solution burns very strongly at first, but is helpful within a few minutes. It removes the uppermost inflamed skin and forms a kind of protective layer that is preserved while eating and drinking. The product usually needs to be applied only once before it takes effect.
Basically, many mouth rinses that fly the gums help. By stimulating the flow of saliva, the gums are cared for. It is less dry and does not hurt to touch. Cleaning tooth oils, with which one rinses the mouth, remove the inflammation and form a kind of mucous protective layer on the oral mucosa.
