Application in pregnancy and lactation

Imodium® should not be used on its own during pregnancy as it is not clear whether the mother’s ingestion will damage the embryo. Breastfeeding women should also not take Imodium®, as the active ingredient can be transferred to the child via the mother’s milk.

Interactions

Certain medications influence the effect of Imodium® when taken simultaneously. These include : Fungicides (azoles) Heart medicines (quinidine, verapamil) Gemfobril (for high blood lipids) Ritonavir (for AIDS) Desmopressin (for uncontrolled water excretion)

  • Medicine against fungal diseases (Azole)
  • Medicine for heart diseases (quinidine, verapamil)
  • Gemfobrizil (against elevated blood lipids)
  • Ritonavir (against AIDS viruses)
  • Desmopressin (for uncontrolled water excretion)
