Back training on the device – which ones are suitable?

Back training can be done by anyone and everywhere – basically no additional equipment is required. However, there are now a number of so-called back trainers that intensify the training.

  • The classic back trainer is a large, multifunctional piece of exercise equipment that primarily targets the back extensor muscles.

In the best case, the abdominal and front thigh muscles can also be trained as opponents. From a bent posture, the upper body straightens up against a resistance with fixed legs.

  • The Hyperextension incline bench is suitable for back training on the machine using your own body weight. The thighs rest on a pad, the lower legs are fixed by a pad. The upper body is free and upright.

The exerciser is therefore upright with approx. 45° inclination of the entire body forward in the starting position. The upper body is now slowly and in a controlled manner guided downwards and then straightened up again.

  • Another popular subform of back trainers are so-called gravity trainers / inversion trainers.

The device is constructed in such a way that it allows the practitioner to be in an overhead position. The user steps into the padded foot holder, lets the safety catch engage and shifts his weight backwards. The user lies stretched out on a couch, which can be brought up to a vertical head position.

This relieves the strain on the intervertebral discs and stretches the spine.

  • The term “back trainer” also includes a variety of so-called small devices that can be used for back training. These include, for example, the “Thera-Band” – a thin latex band that is about 12 cm wide and 1-2 meters long. It is available in different colors and strengths/resistance.

It is versatile, cost-effective and easy to use. For many products, the buyer receives an overview sheet with various exercise suggestions.

  • The Pezzi ball can also be used as a back trainer. The ball adapts optimally to the body due to its malleable and soft shape.

However, the ball size must correspond to the body size. Size calculator can be found on the product pages. In addition to a wide range of applications, you always train your balance, so that deep muscles are also addressed.

  • Another back trainer is the Flexi-Bar oscillating bar.

This is a 1-2 meter long glass fiber rod that is held in various starting positions with both hands and brought into vibration. It enables easy strength training and endurance training. The back, pelvic floor and trunk muscles are equally addressed and the deep muscles are trained.

  • Almost everyone knows and very effective are also small and barbells. Together with a training mat, many exercises can be performed to stabilize and strengthen the back muscles.
