Corset treatment (orthoses) | Therapy for chronic back pain – What helps best?

Corset treatment (orthoses)

What can you do yourself? Take the old adage: “To move brings blessing” to heart. Try to find your way out of your protective posture.

Learn important rules of behavior for the physical mastery of everyday life, for example, in the back school and perform these exercises continuously at home, i.e. on your own initiative. The freedom of your back from pain depends especially on your commitment. If you were one of those people who rarely moved before the back pain, then use this “warning shot” and change your lifestyle.

In particular, you must learn to take care of your back during strenuous activities (heavy lifting and carrying, sitting for long periods, one-sided strain …). If you are one of those people who perform many tasks while sitting, you should relieve your back again and again in different phases:

  • Cover shorter distances on foot or by bicycle instead of by car.
  • Walking, swimming (or aquafitness) and cycling additionally trains the muscles without putting any strain on the back.
  • Think about targeted back training
  • To get back into the swing of things, you can start by taking a painkiller.
  • Loosening and stretching exercises help to relieve and relax the back.
  • Avoid one-sided loads
  • Carry weights only evenly distributed, not on one side
  • Never stay in the same position for more than 30 minutes
  • Do not carry and lift with a bent back but with a straight one
  • Reduce any existing overweight, because this weight also puts a strain on your back.
  • Do sports. Sport offers on the one hand the possibility of building up muscles, but also offers the possibility of weight reduction.
