Costs
A facelift belongs to the purely plastic-aesthetic operations and for this reason is not covered by either the statutory or private health insurance companies. The prices within Germany fluctuate very strongly and ultimately depend on the initial condition, the desired result of the patient, the chosen surgical method and the type of sedation. In most cases the costs are in the range of 4000 – 9000 Euro, including general anesthesia.
The main part of the costs is not the actual facelift, but mainly the general anesthesia, post-operative monitoring and the subsequent stay in the clinic. As a rule, the necessary preliminary examinations, the consultation and all necessary check-ups are covered by these costs. A facelift performed abroad is usually much cheaper than a facelift in Germany.
The argument: plastic surgery abroad is much more risky and less well performed than in Germany, is largely untenable. Since the educational standards in other European countries are largely the same as in Germany, there is nothing wrong with an operation within Europe. Also the execution of a facelift in a non-European country does not necessarily have to be of inferior quality. It is generally recommended to obtain several opinions and suggestions before choosing a suitable plastic surgeon.
