Costs

The MRI of the foot usually takes between 20-45 minutes, depending on the number of sequences that are made. In addition, the MRI of the foot includes the same preparatory measures as any MRI, i.e. talking to the doctor before the examination, taking off clothes and jewelry and the correct positioning for the scan, which can take about another 20 minutes.

MRI of the foot during pregnancy

In contrast to CT or X-rays, MRI does not use ionizing radiation (X-rays) and is therefore suitable as an imaging procedure during pregnancy. It is used regularly, for example, to assess the final position of a child’s pelvis. It is not recommended to perform MRI in early pregnancy (the first 12 weeks) because possible effects on the unborn child have not been sufficiently researched.

However, since MRI of the foot only involves the foot being pushed into the tube, it is unlikely to have any consequences for the child. Whether or not an MRI of the foot is possible is decided by the examining doctor.
