Disadvantages of sports during pregnancy
There are hardly any disadvantages that would explain why a woman would abstain from sports during pregnancy. Even untrained women are now recommended to start doing light sports during pregnancy. The reason is the positive effects such as less fatigue, nausea, depression, water retention and weight gain.
However, the sports should be performed correctly, otherwise it can lead to injuries and very intensive strains can lead to overstraining. Too strong vibrations can lead to a miscarriage, especially at the beginning of the pregnancy, as the egg may not be able to implant itself properly. Too intensive training can lead to an oxygen deficiency in the mother. This can therefore lead to a deficiency in the supply of oxygen to the unborn child, which is why high-intensity exercise should be avoided. However, the baby is not at risk during a normal training session.
Sports in the 1st trimester of pregnancy
Often women do not notice or know they are pregnant until a few weeks later. Then the previous sport was usually continued and even performed with the same or higher intensity. But this is no reason for concern.
As soon as a pregnancy is suspected or detected, a gynecologist should be consulted. In addition, extreme sports, martial arts and excessive strain should be avoided. Many women experience the typical symptoms of pregnancy in the first trimester, such as nausea, vomiting and tiredness.
A lot of exercise in the fresh air is therefore recommended. But also relaxing sports like yoga and pilates. It should be the sport that is fun and increases the well-being. In general, except for the above mentioned sports, all kinds of sports are allowed. As the pregnancy progresses, the pregnant woman will automatically adjust and reduce the intensity according to her physical condition. It is important not to increase the intensity of the training from the beginning of the pregnancy, to take many breaks and to take in enough liquid.
