Exercises | Physiotherapy for swollen hands/feet/legs

Exercises

If the swelling occurs mainly in feet or legs, it can help to simply elevate them for at least 30 minutes in the evening. Lie on your back and ride your legs for 1-2 minutes with the bike in the air, this activates the muscle pump and thus stimulates the removal of excess fluid. Stand on a step of a staircase so that the heel extends beyond the step.

Now press up on your tiptoes 20 times, stay there for 2 seconds and then lower your heel down again. This exercise also supports the vein pump and the removal of excess fluid. The aim of this exercise is to reduce swelling in the fingers.

Ball your hands into a fist and then spread your fingers as far as possible. 10 repetitions. Lead each finger on both hands alternately to your thumb.

Bend and stretch your arm several times while bringing your fist to your shoulder.
