L-Carnitine intake

L-carnitine is mainly found in lamb and sheep meat. However, poultry, pork and beef are also very good sources of L-carnitine through food. Vegetables, eggs, dairy products, white and wholemeal bread on the other hand contain less L-carnitine.

General notes

When taking L-Carnitine, you should make sure that you do not eat a meal beforehand, as this will disturb the absorption of L-Carnitine. At the time of taking it, however, you are free and can decide for yourself when you want to take L-Carnitine. In theory, you can take this food supplement throughout the day. However, if you still want to train, it is advisable to take it relatively close to the load. However, the intake should always take place before the load, and not afterwards.

Forms of income

L-carnitine can be obtained commercially as capsules, effervescent tablets, lozenges, chewable tablets, bars, probiotic drinks, powder, drinking ampoules or as syrup. The most common forms of intake are capsules, the powder, the bar or the ampoule. Capsules are available from various suppliers.

A can of 100 capsules costs about 15 euros on the Internet. The capsules should be taken before sport or preferably in the morning. One capsule per day is recommended and depending on the desired functionality, a higher dosage may be useful.

With the powder you can get 500g pure L-Carnitine powder for about 34 Euro. During application it is recommended to mix a heaped measuring spoon (75 mg) with 50 ml water. This drink should then be taken two to three times a day, making sure that the stomach is empty at best.

L-carnitine bars can also be best obtained on the Internet and there you can also choose between the different providers. A box of 24 L-Carnitine bars costs about 23 Euro and there are many different flavors to choose from. L-Carnitine ampoules are sold in 25 ml bottles and a box with 20 ampoules costs around 25 Euro.

Each ready-to-drink bottle contains 1000mg of L-carnitine (100% L-carnitine and no D-carnitine). In addition to the lime flavor, you can choose between many other tastes. Especially in the USA, L-carnitine is often taken in the form of effervescent tablets.

A package containing 20 effervescent tablets can be purchased for as little as five euros. The dosage for this offer is 500 mg L-carnitine. In addition to the effervescent tablets, L-carnitine can also be bought as lozenges or chewable tablets and taken in this way.

For the lozenges you can buy a box of 60 lozenges for about 12 Euro. Each lozenge contains 510mg L-carnitine and depending on the supplier you can even choose between sugar-free and sugared tablets. For the chewable tablets there is the tin with 120g tablets for scarce ten euros and each chewable tablet contains 333 mg L-Carnitin. Other forms such as chewing gums, syrup and probiotic L-carnitine drinks are available in a similar price range.
