Carnitine Subgroups

Four different groups can be distinguished when taking L-Carnitine, in which the stated amount of L-Carnitine is divided according to the different requirements. 250 – 500 mg of L-carnitine is mainly recommended as an additive for a healthy and wholesome diet. This usually concerns normal-weight and healthy persons who do not suffer from cardiovascular diseases.

Vegetarians, the elderly and people who value a good immune system should consume 500 – 1000 mg L-carnitine per day. Persons who have to endure special stress (athletes, pregnant women, people with cardiovascular diseases, diabetes patients and people with organ problems) should consume between 1000 and 3000 mg L-carnitine. However, one should adhere to the recommended dosage of the doctor and not change the dosage on one’s own.

A value of 3000 – 6000 mg L-carnitine is only recommended for extreme endurance stress (marathon, triathlon, etc.). It is also recommended for serious illnesses, AIDS, Alzheimer’s, cancer and as a support for serious heart diseases.
