Night storage rail | Exercises Hallux valgus

Night storage rail

A further measure is the night storage rail. Since the insoles should be worn in the shoes during the day, the feet cannot be properly relieved and regenerate. The night storage splints are ideal for this purpose.

These are attached to the foot from the outside and are fixed up to above the big toe. They are only used for recovery overnight and not to change the defective position. Special toe spreaders can also be worn.

These are also intended to help with relaxation, as the toes are very close together due to the displaced bones. However, these toe spreaders cannot be worn in shoes. It is important to note that the insoles do not relieve the symptoms immediately after they have been inserted, but rather that wearing them for a longer period of time activates the foot muscles and only then can they provide relief. If there is no improvement, surgery should be considered.

Summary

A hallux valgus is usually caused by bad, too tight, too small, too pointed shoes that are worn over a longer period of time, if the hallux valgus is not hereditary. This causes a displacement of the metatarsal bones and thus a pushing out of the metatarsophalangeal joint of the big toe. This bulge is the most prominent symptom of a hallux valgus.

In addition to poor footwear, a family history of stress or a foot malposition can be the cause of a hallux valgus.Active mobilization with the help of small objects between the toes or general foot mobilization together with arch strengthening exercises can reduce pain and improve foot statics. Besides active therapy, insoles can reduce pain and stimulate sensitivity. If conservative therapy and insoles do not bring any improvement, the last resort is surgery.

The displaced area is brought into the correct position using plates and screws and the tendons, capsule and muscles are fixed in the physiological position. After 10 weeks the patient is fully able to work under stress again, depending on his general condition.
