Risks

1) One risk of exercises with the Theraband is the understraining of the muscles. To be further strengthened, the muscle needs an appropriate stimulus. Regular training increases the stimulus threshold. If you do not increase the resistance of the Thera band or do not change the variation of exercises, you are not stimulating the muscles properly.

So change the exercises or provide an appropriate resistance. 2) Furthermore, the incorrect execution of the exercises can cause complaints. The difference between exercises with the Theraband and those on machines is that the exercises with the Theraband are more uncontrolled and free.

This means that the execution of the exercises must be controlled by the person himself. There is no seat or padding which prevents the evasive movements. To perform the exercise correctly the person must have a good body feeling.

It must be ensured that the back always remains straight and stable. This also applies to the remaining joints. 3) As mentioned in the previous section, you should take care that the Thera bands do not cut into the skin by wrapping around extremities.

Also, there should be no injuries due to defects or too old material. Always make sure that the Thera bands are of good quality and always try to put them on flat. 4) Also persons with a latex allergy should pay attention to the material of the Theraband.

Many are made of latex and are therefore unsuitable. For such cases there are therabands which are made of polyisoprene. These are latex-free and can therefore be used in such cases.

Summary

Therabands are characterized by a large variety of exercises and are suitable for all age groups. They can be used everywhere and are available in different colors. By doing them correctly, choosing the right resistance and taking into account the risks, they can strengthen your muscles very well and counteract complaints.
