Summary
A torn wrist affects the ligament on the outside or inside of the wrist. Trauma, such as a blow to the hand or jerky movement, causes a tear, which is divided into 3 degrees of severity. Surgical treatment is only necessary in case of instability.
Physiotherapy is treated according to the symptoms. Pain, swelling and bruising can be improved by lymph drainage.Mobilization and transverse friction on the tendon to set a wound healing stimulus, as well as soft tissue techniques for the forearm muscles, are added later in the therapy. A splint is absolutely necessary to reduce the load and movement and is usually worn for 6-8 weeks.
Supporting taping is also advisable for the course of wound healing. How long the injury lasts depends on the extent, treatment, protection and wound healing.
