Syncope and Collapse: Test and Diagnosis

2nd order laboratory parameters – depending on the results of the history, physical examination and obligatory laboratory parameters – for differential diagnostic clarification.

• Small blood count
• Inflammatory parameters – CRP (C-reactive protein) or ESR (blood sedimentation rate).
• Sodium – exclusion of hyponatremia (sodium deficiency).
• Fasting glucose (fasting blood glucose) – exclusion of hypoglycemia (hypoglycemia).
• Highly sensitive cardiac troponin T* (hs-cTnT) or troponin I (hs-cTnI) – to exclude a myocardial infarction (heart attack) or suspected ischemia (“suspected inferior blood flow to the heart“).
• D-dimers – to exclude a pulmonary embolism.
• Renal parameters – urea, creatinine, cystatin C if necessary.
• If necessary, blood gas analysis (BGA); determination of.
