The wrist bandage during sports
As certain sports put a lot of strain on the wrist, it is advantageous to support it with a wrist bandage in case of injury, instability or other irritation and to protect it from possible injury. Sports such as handball, volleyball, tennis and similar sports are characterized by jerky forces acting on the wrist and are the main cause of wrist irritation. A wrist bandage should further guarantee the successful practice of the sport by supporting the wrist.
At the same time, movements that lie outside the wrist’s range of motion are avoided. The bandage can be used both preventively to prevent an injury and after treatment to protect against a new one. The shape and material of the wrist bandage to be worn during sports usually differ from the bandages used in everyday life.
The material is usually lighter and more elastic, the shape is selected according to individual needs. It is important that the bandage does not cut or rub into the skin when worn, but fits comfortably. Wrist bandages are a form of fitness gloves that can be used for training.
A bandage serves as wrist protection during sports and is intended to stabilize the wrist during training exercises. The wrist should be protected from buckling.Wrist bandages in fitness are also called “Grip Wrist Wrap” because the bandages surround the wrist more or less strongly and tightly. Depending on how tightly a wrist bandage is wrapped around the wrist, you can leave more or less movement in the wrist.
Wrist bandages are suitable for use in the gym and are useful for exercises such as bench presses and bicep curls to prevent the wrists from clicking away. In addition to classic wrist bandages, there are models with pulling aids. A pulling aid can be helpful for pulling exercises.
Pulling exercises are for example rowing or cross lifting. If you can no longer perform the exercises after one or two heavy sets because the forearm muscles are still too weak, the pulling aid can help to support the forearms during such exercises. If you want to buy a wrist bandage for fitness exercises, you should first think about which exercises you need the bandages for.
Simple bandages are usually sufficient for beginners. Pulling aids are suitable for those who are advanced and have a clear training plan. When buying them, you should also make sure that the bandages fit well and actually give the wrist support.
Wrist bandages can be used for both bodybuilding and fitness. Whether a wrist bandage or another form of fitness gloves is more suitable depends on the personal training goal and wearing comfort. Bandages should generally be worn according to requirements and not for all exercises.

Tennis is one of the sports that puts a lot of strain on the wrist due to the constantly repeated stretching and bending movements. In order to relieve the wrist at that point and protect it from unwanted, harmful movements, a wrist bandage can be worn.
There are very simple bandages for this purpose that only cover and stabilize the wrist like a cuff. Or also bandages that include the thumb and thus additionally limit the flexion and extension of the wrist. However, which wrist bandage is the most suitable for tennis is best tried out by trying out different bandages when playing tennis and choosing one that is comfortable to wear while effectively supporting and protecting the wrist.
