Hoggar® Night

The drug Hoggar® Night Tablets is mainly used for the short-term treatment of sleep disorders. It accelerates falling asleep, promotes sleep through the night and has no disturbing influence on the sleep rhythm.

Mode of action

Hoggar® Night is a drug from the group of sedatives and hypnotics. It is also an antihistamine. Histamine is an endogenous substance that is secreted from mast cells, granulocytes and tissue.

On the one hand, it increases the permeability of the capillary walls (permeability), promotes the dilation of the vessels and, on the other hand, it has a sensitizing effect on the pain receptors. This means that these become more sensitive to pain transmission. Hoggar® Night blocks the H1 receptor, where histamine has its effect under physiological conditions.

In addition to this blockage, a sedative effect has also been proven. The ingredient doxylamine is responsible for this effect. It is an ethanol derivative that has a good affinity to the H1-receptor.

Hangover Effect

The ingredient doxylamine has a duration of action of about 3 to 6 hours. If it is taken into account that the patient gets a healthy sleep duration after ingestion, the effect does not last until the next day, but only promotes sleep at the right time. It does not then influence the morning awakening. With the correct application, the patient feels recovered, awake the next day and is not restricted in his or her ability to conduct.

Contraindications

Since Hoggar® Night contains the active ingredient doxylamine, it must not be taken if you have an intolerance (allergy) to the active ingredient mentioned. The same applies to all other active ingredients the drug contains. Furthermore, one must refrain from taking it if one suffers from an acute asthma attack, if one has glaucoma (narrow-angle glaucoma), if one has an adrenal gland tumor (pheochromocytoma), if the prostate gland is enlarged (prostate hypertrophy) with residual urine formation, in case of acute intoxication by alcohol, sleeping pills or painkillers as well as psychotropic drugs (neuroleptics, tranquilizers, antidepressants, lithium), as well as in case of seizure disorders and simultaneous treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors.
