Active ingredient medicinal charcoal

Medical carbon or activated carbon is an active ingredient from the group of so-called adsorbents. Medicinal carbon is used as a medicine against diarrhoea and also against various poisonings. Since activated carbon can lead to severe constipation, it is important to ask the doctor for the exact dosage before use and to strictly adhere to it.

Uzara root

The active ingredient, which is extracted from the Uzara root, is a herbal medicine against diarrhoea. The drug against diarrhea, which contains components from the uzara root, is called UZARA®. The effect is based on the fact that the movement of the intestine (intestinal motility) is inhibited and thus the excretion of aqueous stool is reduced.

Furthermore, UZARA ensures that cramps are alleviated and the stomach relaxes. Since the drug contains components from the red foxglove (digitalis), which have effects on the heart, the use of this drug should be discussed with a doctor in advance to avoid undesirable side effects. Nausea, vomiting, or hypersensitivity reactions similar to an allergic reaction may also occur.

Home remedy against diarrhea

Various household remedies can be used as medicines against diarrhoea, especially if it is a mild diarrhoea, for example, caused by a meal that is not well tolerated. Blueberry tea is particularly suitable as a household remedy and medicine against diarrhoea. Only dried blueberries should be poured over with hot water and steeped for about 10 minutes.

Afterwards you can drink up to 1l a day so that the tea can unfold its full effect. Herbal tea or black tea can also be used for diarrhoea. In general, the best home remedy for treating diarrhoea is to drink water or tea.

In addition to the loss of water, diarrhoea also causes a loss of electrolytes and fiber. To compensate for this, affected persons can eat grated apple and crushed banana. Carrot soup is also well suited as a household remedy and medicine against diarrhoea, whereby it must be ensured that no cream and no ready-made vegetable broth is added to the soup in addition to the carrots, as these can further increase the diarrhoea.
